I’m waiting for a flatbed tow truck right now.
Don’t worry, the tow driver will have skates on board.

Alright, thanks for the info.
Use wood blocks under the control arm or subframe with a skate. The tow driver should have these tools, especially if you didn’t go for the cheapest options.

Thanks for the tip! I called AAA for the tow.
@ReubenSparks
All AAA flatbeds come with a ball joint skate. This happens all the time, so you’re in good hands.

Do they really take off the tire to use the skate? That’s what the tow driver said.
@ReubenSparks
Let the tow driver handle it.
@ReubenSparks
Yes, they take off the tire and place the skate on the lower control arm. This prevents the tire from catching and damaging the wheel well or quarter panel.
@ReubenSparks
AAA here, so yes, the wheel comes off. But sometimes the block (not a skate) won’t be high enough to stop other broken parts from dragging when being winched up. It can be a bit tricky getting it off.
@Quill
Got it, thanks!
@Quill
Thanks for what you do!
Looks like you’re in San Francisco… maybe leave it and let it be the next guy’s home.

Better yet, why not rent it out for $950 a week with utilities included.
How many miles or years have passed since you last changed the LBJs?
X2 hope your sweet truck is alright.
Put blocks behind the rear wheels and hire a mobile mechanic to swap out the control arm. Once you get it to a shop, consider a full front-end rebuild if it has high miles and you haven’t replaced any parts yet. DIY would be even better if you can.
@Heather
It had a full front suspension rebuild not too long ago. I’m bummed it didn’t last longer.

Did you use OEM LBJs or aftermarket ones?

OEM parts.
