I’m thinking of getting a Lexus SUV, but I’m wondering… is it really that different from a Toyota, or is it just a fancier look?
You’ll feel the difference when it comes to road noise and soundproofing in a Lexus. The materials inside are also more high-end. One thing to keep in mind, though, most Lexus cars need premium fuel.

Even just knocking on the door, you can tell that Toyotas don’t have as much sound insulation.
@Nile
Yeah, my Lexus doors are super heavy too!
@Nile
Really? My family has had Toyotas for years—Camry, Sienna, Sequoia—and I never noticed any road noise issues.

Have you ever driven a Lexus?

No, but I’ve been in one, like in an Uber once. Didn’t notice anything major.
@Bright
Until you own one, you can’t really compare. I’ve had both, and there’s a reason I switched to Lexus after two Toyotas.

By the way, isn’t the plural of Lexus, Lexi or something?

Fair enough! I’d love to try out a Lexus someday, especially the GX. It’s on my wishlist!
@Bright
Sitting in an Uber Lexus is like saying you played baseball by just standing on first base, lol. Lexus models like the RX or LC are the real deal. I’ve had both Toyota and Lexus, and believe me, Lexus is a whole new level.
@Mary1
Wait… no mention of the LS?

Yeah, my bad. I’ve always wanted one but never got around to it. Maybe one day!
@Mary1
The IS350 is super fun to drive too.
@Mary1
That analogy was kinda lame though.

LOL, sounds like you have an ES. Nothing wrong with that, they’re great, but other Lexus models like the RX or GS definitely step up the game.
@Mary1
Haha, I had a feeling someone would mention the ES. But hey, it’s still a Lexus in my book.

Saying you’ve had an ES and you know Lexus is like saying you know pizza after eating Little Caesars. It’s good, but there’s a lot better out there, like the higher-end Lexus models.
@Mary1
Yeah, I just got a 2013 IS300h and it’s the quietest car I’ve ever driven. Nothing else compares.

If you’re happy with your Toyota, why bother with a Lexus?
