Thinking about adding a winch to my Tacoma and maybe a small front bumper bar… any recommendations?
Southern Style Offroad makes a pretty light one that fits a winch and a light bar. Keeps the stock fog lights too.
This is the one I’m planning to get:
If you get a winch and bumper and it changes the stance too much, just throw on a leveling spacer. Are you still running stock suspension?
@Wilder
I have this bumper and it’s solid. No suspension problems at all.

Same here… weighs around 45 pounds… didn’t have to mess with the suspension at all.

I think it’s closer to 80 pounds, plus the winch adds another 80-100 pounds. Even with all that, it’s only about 175 pounds up front, which isn’t a big deal for the stock coils. Didn’t notice much of a change in stance, if any.
@Aris
I was only talking about the bumper itself. Installed it solo, and it didn’t feel like 80 pounds to me.

I put mine on five years ago, so I wasn’t sure. Just looked it up—Extreme Terrain lists it at 64 pounds, so that sounds about right.
@Aris
Checked again… you were right, 70 pounds.

All I know is, bolting the winch on and lifting it into place while half-drunk was not my smartest idea.

Didn’t put a winch on mine… mainly got it for hitting deer.
@Wilder
Yeah, still stock. TRD long bed, double cab.

You should be good then. Stick with a lighter winch and you won’t have any issues.
If you’re willing to spend a bit more, ARB makes a bumper that fits. Requires some cutting but holds a winch and gives full front-end protection.
Check out Greenlane Offroad. Their bumpers are only about 45 pounds.
What’s your budget?

Trying to stay under $1,000 if possible.

An aluminum bumper for under a grand? That’s gonna be tough.

So does that mean anything that’s not aluminum will be too heavy for stock suspension? Any good options if I go higher on the budget?
