I have a 2012 Tundra 5.7 flex fuel that I’ve owned for about 3 years. It recently passed 185k miles, so I wanted to get some advice from you all. I purchased the truck with 119k on the dash and have kept up with maintenance, although I’m unsure about what the previous owner did. I have performed coolant, oil, transmission fluid, spark plug replacements, and more, all on schedule according to the manual. The truck has mostly been highway driven, with some off-road use during the hunting seasons. Here’s a list of what’s been replaced or fixed so far:
Water pump
Coolant reservoir
Alternator and battery
A/C compressor and condenser
One brake hose
With everything in mind, I’m considering doing a major tune-up soon and would like suggestions beyond the usual things like coolant changes, transmission fluid, spark plugs, etc. I want to ensure I take the best care of this truck possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Have you done shocks and struts yet? Also, flush your power steering system and use injector cleaner (Redline) and engine cleaner like Seafoam or BG before your next oil change. Other than that, I can’t think of much else. I just replaced the starter on my '07 5.7 last August, and you should be good to go. Oh, and change your rear differential fluid (use synthetic Valvoline squeeze packs).

Beautiful truck! I hope to get similar mileage on mine and more!
Thank you! As long as you keep up with simple maintenance, you should.
Quick question, what bumper do you have? I’ve been looking for black ones for a while but can’t find a direct fit to replace the chrome bumper; only bumper covers, which won’t fit due to the chrome. Did your truck come with chrome or plastic?
@Samuel_3
My Limited came painted. You can find them color matched, but the cost can be an issue. I’ve been wanting a white rear bumper without painting over chrome, but it’s tough to find one with factory sensor holes.

Don’t forget to change the transfer case and differential fluid. Also check the PCV valve, get an OEM radiator cap, and grease your U-joints.
This. Make sure to also replace front and rear differential fluids and the transfer case fluid.
