Master Warning Light Came On and Went Off?

Hey guys,

So, we’ve got a 2018 Corolla LE. Today, my wife took it to work without any issues. But a few hours later, when she went to drive home, the master warning light started flashing and beeping whenever the car moved. She slowed down to pull over, and as soon as she stopped, the light and sound went off. Then, when she started moving again, they came back. This happened a couple of times until she decided to stop the engine and call me.

I suggested she take it to a car repair shop, but when she tried driving again, the light and sound didn’t come back on, so she drove home.

I checked the car with an OBD scanner to see if there were any error codes, but nothing showed up. Also, when I briefly drove the car to check, everything seemed normal, and all the fluids like coolant, washer fluid, and oil were at proper levels.

So, should we be worried about this, or is it probably nothing to be concerned about? Thanks for any input you guys might have!

Hey there,

That light can illuminate for various reasons and typically comes with a message displayed in the instrument cluster. This message usually provides insight into what’s causing the issue, such as indicating if one of the doors is open. The problems triggering the master warning light often won’t activate the check engine light, so it’s unlikely there would be any error codes, particularly in the ECM or TCM. You might want to ask your wife if she noticed any additional messages in the instrument cluster while the master warning light was on.

Maybe you should wait to see if the warning might come back again. So far, I think its what medical people call “false positives”
