Just got a 2025 Tundra with normal, sport, and eco drive modes. Surprisingly, I’m getting the best mpg in sport mode. Anyone else experiencing this?
I’ve started using sport mode too. Better throttle response and slightly better fuel economy, especially in mixed driving. Eco seems better on highways but worse around town.
I use sport mode with manual shifting on my limited hybrid. Doing 65-75 mph on the highway, I get about 17.5 mpg with 93 octane. People might balk at 93 octane, but I find it worth it.

My '24 Limited manual says “87 or better” for towing or hard driving, so 93 isn’t bad. Cost difference here is minimal.

Switching to ethanol-free could break 20 mpg easily with slightly less cost. Serious though, I get 550-560 miles per tank with pure gas.
I don’t notice much difference between normal and eco. Rarely use sport.
Using Eco mode on my '24 OR, getting nearly 17 mpg consistently.
Similar experience with my Sienna. Eco/normal feels sluggish, but sport utilizes electric motor better for city driving. EV mode is great for cruising parking lots.
Many on this forum have noted similar findings. Eco tries to keep RPMs low but ends up using turbos more, hurting mileage.
Eco mode seems best for long highway trips, from what I’ve heard.
I use tow/haul mode often, even without hauling. 1st gear starts and engine braking are great, rarely use brakes.
Probably because your truck is warmed up.
Same experience on my '23 plat.
Eco helps in stop-and-go traffic, but higher RPMs in Sport seem to improve mpg, especially uphill where low RPMs struggle.
