I’m tired of Hyundais/Kias and moving to Toyota for my car (we have a Tacoma), but we can’t really decide, and sadly I’m so busy we are having a hard time finding a dealership with all three in stock.
Two kids in car seats, moving to Colorado soon, needing bigger trunk space. The only one we’ve seen was the normal Highlander. Any opinions on what’s good for family and bigger trunk space? Thank you!
Unless you need to go off-road, a Highlander or Grand Highlander will give you more car for the price, better on-road driving, and better fuel economy. But a Land Cruiser is very cool.
I own a Land Cruiser and love it, but it’s the smallest in terms of passenger and storage space. The Sequoia is great but drives more like a truck. The Grand Highlander is likely the best choice for a family in Colorado, especially with AWD and hybrid options.
Get a Platinum Grand Highlander Hybrid Max. It’s more practical than the other two in terms of cargo capacity and ground clearance is sufficient unless you’re doing heavy off-roading. Just swap the tires to suit Colorado conditions.
I had a Highlander, traded it for a Sequoia TRD Pro, but then switched to a Lexus GX550. The GX550 is the best decision I’ve made. If you’re considering the Land Cruiser or Sequoia, look into the GX550.
I own a 2023 Sequoia, and while I love it, I think the Grand Highlander is more practical for families unless you’re doing heavy off-roading or hauling.
If not going Subaru, I’d pick a body-on-frame vehicle with real 4X4, like the Sequoia or Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser has one of the best 4WD systems in the world.
Kind of moot since they’re hard to find in stock, but unless you’re 5’5” or shorter, the Grand Highlander is the best choice. The Land Cruiser and Sequoia have cramped second rows.
