I’m in the middle of swapping an engine and ran into a problem. The new engine I bought is a JDM version and came with a 3-prong plug, while my original engine only had a 2-prong. I tried checking part numbers but I can’t find a 3-prong one that matches what I need.
Sounds like you got the wrong part. Go to parts.subaru.com and look at the diagrams—they usually have the right part numbers for all USDM Subarus.

So I’m in the middle of an engine swap and just bought this engine. It’s a JDM one. It came with a 3-prong sensor and mine only has 2. I looked up the part number but I can’t find any 3-prong plug that matches what I need.
@Shinji
You’ll probably have to swap over the intake manifold, all the hoses, and the wiring harness from your original engine. Maybe even the knock sensor, since this is a motor from a different region.
@LyamGenesis
I saw someone on YouTube do a similar swap and he only had to change the intake to get it running. Could that be the reason mine won’t start yet? I’ll try switching the intake over and see what happens.
@Shinji
You could try checking places that sell JDM parts like japanparts.com. Do you know what the third wire on that plug is actually for?
PCV connections don’t usually have three wires. That sounds more like a MAP sensor plug.

I checked again this morning and you’re totally right—it’s for the MAP sensor. My old engine had a blow-by sensor, but the JDM one doesn’t have that at all.
