Should I buy a 99 rav4 with 95k miles … is it worth it

I’m looking for a reliable car for my family for the next 2 years. This one is selling for $2500 and has 95k miles. Should I get it? What should I check when I go see it? I’ll use it as a daily driver and for road trips to Miami sometimes.

It looks like it’s been in an accident.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll skip this one. Finding a good car has been stressful.

If you haven’t already, check out certified pre-owned cars at your local dealership. They might have something in your budget.

Yeah, I’d pass on this one. The bumper and hood look off. It probably looks worse in person.

With that damage, $1700 would be a fair price.

Take a close look at the front end. How far is Miami from you?

About 300 miles.

I’d worry more about rust. You can’t tell how bad the accident was from pictures. These cars last forever, so don’t rule it out completely. It’s worth checking out, especially with such low miles. Good luck!

The back of the car looks damaged too.

A Rav4 in general is solid. Just keep up with brakes, tires, and oil, and it’ll run past 300k miles. They’re tough cars and a great investment.

I sold my 2001 Rav4 at 210k miles and got a newer one. The older models had the spare on the door, and the back seats were easy to remove, giving lots of space. Parts are easy to find since so many were sold. The AWD system was better than newer models, but $2500 is too much for this one.

It all depends on the deal. If it’s a good price, maybe.
