I’m planning to buy a 25 soon. The Premium trim has most of what I need, except for blind spot detection and a power liftgate. I think I can add the 15 package to get those features, right? But does the Limited already include them? Also, is the liftgate on the Limited just power or is it hands-free too? (When they say ‘hands-free,’ do they mean you kick your leg under it or just press a button? No clue here.)
I don’t care about leather seats, sound systems, or fancy wheels. If all you wanted was a power liftgate and blind spot monitoring, would you go for the Premium with the package or the Limited?
I’m not 100% sure on every detail, but you might want to check out the Sport. It sits between Premium and Limited. I have the '21 Sport and it hits the sweet spot—everything I need without the extras I don’t care about.
@Tsuna
Makes sense. From what I see, I could go Sport with the OP24 package instead of Limited without any packages and get the power liftgate I want. Plus, it includes RAB and an audio upgrade that the barebones Limited doesn’t. Price is about the same. Only downside? I’m sad it doesn’t come in green.
@Ari
Wait, what’s OP? Also, FYI, the Sport does have blind spot detection and a power trunk. You can open or close it with the key fob or from inside the car.

OP probably means optional package. People usually don’t bother with the numbers when talking about Subaru packages since there’s only one per trim. You’re either getting the package or you’re not. Bigger brands have multiple packages for each trim, which makes it more confusing.
@Ari
Check the seat material on the Sport. It’s fabric unique to Sport and Onyx trims, but I’ve heard it doesn’t wear well over time and tends to crack. I used to have a Sport, and the seats wore out quicker than leather ones.
@Ari
Yep, Sport with the package is the cheapest way to get RAB.
Sport and Premium trims have cloth seats, while Limited gets leather. Leather might look fancy, but cloth is easier to deal with and more comfortable in extreme weather.
Sport with the package is a good middle ground for practicality.

Base model audio is pretty bad. If you’re keeping the car for a long time, it might be worth getting some of the extra features.
I mostly listen to audiobooks, not music, so audio quality isn’t a big deal for me. Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I turned on my car radio. My current car’s audio is super quiet, so even a base model that’s 13 years newer has got to be better, right?
@Ari
The base has a 4-speaker system, while Premium and up have 6. If you care even a little about sound, I’d start at Premium. You can upgrade the front speakers in Premium. Higher trims come with the full HK system, which is a big step up.
