Should I go with a Tesla Model 3 LR or a Camry XSE?

What do you mean by ‘Charging while doing things’? Does that mean you can leave it charging while you’re out, or that you can do stuff at home while it charges?

I mean like when you’re running errands or at work. My gym has free charging, so that’s a bonus.

@Lake
Free charging is nice, but I wouldn’t call having to charge while grocery shopping a benefit. If you can charge at work, that’s a plus, but having to wait for a charge can be a downside compared to a quick fuel-up in the Camry.

@FaithJones
Yeah, more of a nice perk but not a major selling point… like finding a surprise curly fry in a batch of regular ones :joy:

Haha, I see people just sitting in their cars while charging at stores. I’ll go do my shopping, come back, and they’re still sitting there charging.

@Galen
Yeah, I’ve seen that too. Not sure why they’d just wait around.

@Lake
These cars are really different in what they offer. Tesla’s all about tech and speed, while the Camry sticks to being a reliable, practical choice. It comes down to what fits your lifestyle better—do you value the convenience of gas or the electric drive? It’s worth thinking about all that before making a decision.

You might not have oil changes with a Tesla, but you’ll probably spend more on tires. It’s not maintenance-free, just different.

Simple answer… just spend $5K on a used 2004 Camry. Better than both!

Time counts as maintenance, too. My friend’s Tesla spent 3 weeks in the shop over 4 months due to panel alignment issues. Also, tint messed with the sensors.

Good to know, thanks for sharing!

@Lake
Yeah, Tesla does give loaners, but I’d rather not waste time going to the shop. I got a Camry LE for $29K as my daily driver, and honestly, the LE gets better mileage because of the tires compared to the XSE.

@Kaius
What do you mean it’s the same? I’d rather save some money if I can.

The LE and XSE are basically the same car, but with different styling and tires. LE tires get better gas mileage. Same engine, same hybrid tech, just different looks and features. I went for the LE and saved a good chunk of cash.

@Kaius
Actually, the XSE does have a different suspension setup, like the SE. But the XLE is similar to the LE.
