I currently drive a 2018 4Runner and I’m thinking about trading it for a 2022 Highlander XLE. Does anyone know if it’s worth it? What are the advantages of switching?
If you’re not into off-roading, the Highlander is a much smoother ride compared to the 4Runner. Depends on what you’re looking for.
The Highlander is quieter and rides smoother than the 4Runner, for sure.

This is the one I’m planning to check out: Vehicle Summary Used Page
Do you think the price they’re asking is fair?
@Kale
Looks like a decent price. Good luck with it!

I’m having second thoughts. I still owe $28,000 on my 4Runner, and I’m worried I won’t get enough for it to cover the payoff.
@Kale
I also really don’t want to end up financing negative equity.

Yeah, don’t trade it if you’re going to carry over negative equity and increase your payments.

Right now, I’m paying $568 a month. I bought it in mid-2022 when prices were through the roof. Big mistake, but I’m dealing with it!

Honestly, the market hasn’t improved much for Toyotas, so you might not find a better deal.
That actually looks like the XSE trim, which is a step up from the XLE. I’ve got a 2022 XLE AWD and paid about $52k Canadian for it brand new. My friend asked me why I didn’t go for a 4Runner, but honestly, I don’t go off-roading, and I tow a small tent trailer occasionally. Plus, I didn’t like the ride in my uncle’s 4Runner. Good luck with the purchase!
Seems a little high. I paid a similar price for a Platinum V6 with 15k miles. Still, it depends on the market. Good luck!

This one has less than 10,000 miles on it, though.
@Kale
If it’s worth it to you, go for it!
I’m not sure yet. I’ll probably try to negotiate, but I’m concerned about the trade-in value of my 4Runner. I owe $28,000 on it and I don’t think I’ll get enough to cover that.
@Kale
Hey, don’t forget about the sweet 26–28 mpg the Highlander gets!
