So I wanted to add a single accent light… and now here we are!

And now over a year later I’m here. My 2014 Trail Teams Sport Special Edition Tacoma with 75k miles. Not pictured or pictured well. Magnaflow high clearance off road exhaust, 1.25" seat jackers with 10" powered subs under each front seat with remote bass knob wired into knock out location, molle panel set up for gun transport behind rear seat, powder coated black skid plate, stock rims painted black, dyed interior upholstery black, 4.56 gear ratio, sequential smoked mirror turn indicators & OTT tune. Sorry photos are kinda shit as I’m definitely no professional. AMA!

I love how over-the-top this is, fantastic job!

Thanks! I know accent lights aren’t for everyone, but the 16-year-old Fast & Furious fan in me just had to make it happen. Tried to keep it tasteful but fun!

@StephCOPELAND
My inner Fast & Furious fan lives on through my '05 Camry. It even has 2 more cylinders than my Tacoma, lol.

Damn, that looks hot! How much of a difference did the floor soundproofing make?

Honestly, it’s a game-changer. The stock insulation in 2nd gen Tacomas is pretty bad, but now it’s quieter than the average modern car. That is, until I added the Magnaflow off-road exhaust, which now dumps closer to the cab – makes it tough to have a conversation in the back if I’m really hitting the throttle.

But yeah, the floor insulation is definitely worth it, and Kilmat’s cheaper than Dynamat for basically the same effect.

@StephCOPELAND
I’ve done the doors and ceiling already, so I’m thinking about tackling the floor too. Got a full AFE exhaust, so not sure how much it’ll help, but might try it anyway!

It’ll still make a difference, though you’ll definitely still hear that exhaust!

Respect, dude! I get frustrated just taking off the skid plate for oil changes :joy:

Oh, there were plenty of 4-letter words during this build, trust me. The supercharger was especially brutal. When I started, I only knew how to change my own oil, so I was gonna have the SC professionally installed. But then a friend who’s a heavy-duty mechanic insisted on helping me.

We got everything disassembled on the first day, but the next day he had a family emergency and had to leave town for a few weeks. I was left to finish the install with no experience – lots of thrown tools and busted knuckles those next three days, but somehow I made it work!

Haha, it’s like ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.’ It’s a kids’ book that basically says one thing leads to another.

That’s riced out as hell (and yes, I’m jealous).

You really went all out. I try to do all my truck mods myself too. You made it your own, man!

Thanks! These days, with all the how-to videos on YouTube, the only thing stopping you from doing it yourself is not having the right tools. Give it a go if you can!

But, yeah, maybe don’t end up in a situation like I did, having to do a supercharger install solo because the mechanic who was gonna help you left after the disassembly. It was a deep dive for sure!

@StephCOPELAND
Yeah, I wouldn’t even try that alone! That’s crazy.

Trust me, I wouldn’t have either, but my friend insisted we do it together, and then he had to leave unexpectedly. Couldn’t take it to a shop either since most mechanics won’t finish someone else’s work due to liability. So, I was forced to figure it out!

@StephCOPELAND
Well, you pulled it off! Looks sick. I’ve got a 2015 OR in blue ribbon metallic with some mods too. 2.5 gen :facepunch:

Almost messed it up, though. Got to the end and realized I hadn’t reconnected everything. After searching, I found two fuel lines that needed to be connected under the supercharger – took hours of working blind with big hands, even had to take off the hood to get the right angle! Almost had a fuel disaster, but good thing I checked!
