I get it, dealerships suck, but local shops are booked out for weeks. I needed the car back fast. That said, has anyone had this exact noise before?
Wheel bearings don’t rattle when they go bad…
Find a good independent Subaru shop. They’re worth their weight in gold.
Done with dealerships after my last experience. Took my Subaru in for a check engine light, and they tried to charge me $14k for a new short block. I said no, just change the oil. Still got hit with a $250 diagnostic fee, so I paid $450 for an oil change.
Did some research and turns out Subaru engines burn oil faster than normal. Just gotta keep an eye on it. Still waiting to hear back from Subaru of America since I feel like this shouldn’t be happening.
Also, they wanted $800 for a MAF sensor, wipers, and some lights. Bought everything myself for $100. They were charging $500 just for the sensor and labor when it’s a five-minute job with a screwdriver.
Now I’m debating if I should keep the car or trade it in before it gets worse. I like it, but dealing with these issues at 70k miles is frustrating.
@Sunny
Subaru gets ranked as reliable, but everyone I know with one has had problems. Feels like you need to know how to fix them yourself to avoid getting ripped off.
