I get why people wanna experiment, but I’d rather just stick with what Toyota recommends. Less stress that way.

Totally fair. Some people love tweaking things, others prefer to just follow manufacturer guidelines and not think about it.

Probably. It provides a thicker oil film at higher temps, which could help under load. But you’d have to decide if the trade-off (possible warranty concerns, slight MPG drop) is worth it.
