A wealthy guy moved overseas out of nowhere and left his buddy in charge of selling his 4Runner. It sounded like the kind of setup that would be a total scam, but somehow it was legit. I still can’t believe I’ve got the title in hand.
The setup:
Magnuson Supercharger w/intercooler (legal in all 50 states)
Icon Stage 5 suspension (serviced in 2022)
BFG KO2 tires LT285/70R17 (x5)
Method Race Wheels MR307 17x8.5 matte black (x5)
Gobi flat stealth roof rack w/40” LED bar + rear floods (x6)
CBI front winch bumper w/brush guard, Warn 9.5xp winch w/synthetic line, Factor 55 ProLink
Demello hybrid rock sliders
CBI rear swing bumper w/tire and fuel mounts, table, and rear camp light
S-Pod 8-switch system w/touchscreen
ARB snorkel
ARB awning 2000mm x 2500mm
ARB Simpson III rooftop tent

Props to you for actually going through with it. I would’ve thought I was getting scammed out of my organs trying to follow up on something like that.

I took it for a test drive and still didn’t believe it. Whole thing was slow… title had to be sent to Scotland to get signed, and the supercharger had to be cleared by CHP. But now I’ve got the keys and papers.
@Charlotte
That setup just sounds shady in like five different ways. Freakin’ Scotland? Haha. Glad it actually worked out though.
It was totally a scam. They stole it from me and sold it to you. Just give it back and we’ll call it good. Thanks.
What a score… maybe the guy just needed a tax write-off.

How would that work though?

Not sure… smart people figure this stuff out.
@Marlowe
Haha. I do real estate and write off all kinds of stuff. Super easy.

Could be wrong, but maybe if he claimed a loss compared to what he paid, even with the upgrades? Rich folks try to stack losses on their taxes. Some states don’t like it if you sell a car way under market though—they want their tax. I bought a busted Suburban once for $2K and the state said it was worth $5K, so they made me pay more in tax.
Congrats! That thing is awesome.

Thanks a lot!
That’s sick. What year is it, how many miles, and how much did you pay?

34k total for everything. It’s a 2018.

That’s basically brand new. Is this your first 4Runner?
@Rian
Yep! Before this I had a 2WD Tacoma.

That’s an insane deal. I’ve got a 2018 TRD OR with decent mods and 90k miles… and I wouldn’t let it go for $34k. I’m in California too.
That’s some pricey dino juice right there.
You totally stole it! Congrats.
