The template was garbage, had to drill out a bit more with a step bit, but in the end, it fits alright. Not as nice as a Safari, but for over $500 less, I’m not complaining.
Just a tip—flip the intake scoop around. I ran my Safari snorkel that way for two years and had a ton of debris, bugs, and water in the airbox. Went through three filters. Flipped it around last year, and my fourth filter still looks clean. I drive through snow, sand, and everything in between. Turning it around basically acts as a free pre-filter.
@Remington
Probably a dumb question, but wouldn’t flipping it around reduce airflow?

I ran a simulation at work (I’m an engineer) and found it only reduces airflow by 0.38%. I’d rather have that tiny loss than keep replacing air filters constantly. It’s not a turbo, so as long as there’s air, the engine will pull it in just fine.
@Remington
0.38% of what exactly? What were you measuring?

Airflow potential.

Potentially…
@Remington
I’ve got a pre-filter from Amazon arriving tomorrow. $18.50 ‘like new’ lol.
Honest question… By the time you’re in water deep enough for this to matter, wouldn’t the electronics be fried and the cab full of water? I don’t know much about this stuff.

Not a dumb question. A lot of people think snorkels are just for deep water, but I’m in SoCal and my problem is sand and dust. After I cut my bumper, I didn’t realize my intake was sucking up dust like a vacuum. Checked my airbox recently, and that was enough to justify the mod for me. Whole thing cost me $95.
@Jeharys
Same here. I’m in AZ, and I’ve been thinking about one of these as a cooler air intake than the wheel well. Also, the trails are way dustier than they used to be.

Snorkels help prevent hydro lock. They don’t waterproof the whole truck, but they do keep water out of the intake. Those are two different things.
@Ann
That makes sense. I just wasn’t sure why someone would put one on a nice truck like this.
Truck looks awesome!
Is it actually sealed well against water?
How many command strips did it take to stick that thing to your fender?
Serious question though—does it block the spotlight behind it?
