That EV Mode Button... What's It REALLY For?

I use it driving around parking lots and up and down my neighborhood streets.

Before getting the rav4 I thought it would be useless, but I actually use it a lot. For example, when parked somewhere and I don’t want to have the engine running or driving on my driveway.

It’s for driving in a parking lot under 20mph

I think you can only go up to a certain speed in EV only so if the battery is too low or you’re going too fast, you can’t switch over

I use it to move the cars around the driveway without starting them. No need to run engine for a couple minutes. Can also putt putt around the 15mph HOA neighborhood quietly with a smug look on my face. Other than that, the button is useless. Info is in the owners manual. Read it.

@Tory
I think someone mentioned before, but it might be useful in snowy or icy conditions! EVs often handle traction control from a stop better than gas cars.

Hey person who posted this, did you figure it out yet?

Nope. My guess is, since nobody knows, it’s for the plug-in hybrid.

Huh, odd. I’ve seen the right answer a few times. It enables EV only mode. It’s limited to certain speeds, temps, or battery levels. Your owners manual has something if you search “EV button”.

EV Mode is the default in a Prime.

Ev mode allows you to use your car in places where are restrictions for ice cars. It basically only runs on battery so 0 emissions.

It’s a feel good button. It reduces the throttle response, slows down the cruise control response to give slower acceleration and lower the A/C thermostat response in cars that have climate control.

That’s the ECO button not the EV button

Yeah, read the owners manual
