Thinking about a dash cam for my 2024 SE... Any suggestions?

Hey everyone,

After seeing that dash cam footage of people trying to commit insurance fraud, I’m thinking I should get one :sweat_smile: I have a 2024 SE and would prefer a camera without a bunch of cables for both front and back. Any reliable recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I have the Viofo A229 Plus. I use both the front and rear cameras. It’s been working great, and I was able to hide the wires pretty well.

You saw that TikTok too?

I have the Viofo A229+ in mine, and it’s pretty good. Covers front and rear, and you can add a third camera inside if you want. The app works well, too.

Got it for around $100 on Amazon, and they’re on sale regularly.

I connected it to an external battery that’s hardwired into the car, so I can use parking mode for about 12-13 hours without draining the car battery.

That thing is ugly as heck though.

I can’t see it from the driver’s seat, so it doesn’t bother me.

Having a dash cam is important. It’s useless 99.99% of the time, but you’ll be glad you have it when something happens.

I recommend the COXPAL A11T 3-channel dash cam on Amazon. Good quality—it records front, inside, and rear at the same time.

The COXPAL hardwire kit is optional for 24-hour parking monitoring.

Get a SanDisk MAX Endurance 256GB or 512GB microSD card for reliable recording.

@Finnley
SanDisk is the only brand I use for digital stuff. Great quality.

Check out the FitcamX knockoff on AliExpress. It’s $60-$80 instead of $169 on Amazon. Simple to install, looks like factory…no wires showing. Let me know if you need a link.

It uses the same app, so it’s the same hardware.

Front and back 4K/1080p is $118. Nothing cheaper out there, and it works well.

@Nidra
I agree with this. I’ve had mine since 2021 with no issues. Once you get past the language barrier, the app is easy to use.

FitCamX generic 4K camera. No cords or wires. It connects to the front-facing speed control camera.
Choose your resolution options and if you want front and rear cameras.

Just get a high-endurance card. Slickdeals has good deals on them. 128GB or 256GB high-endurance cards are good. Be cautious of fakes on Amazon. Walmart and other retailers have reputable options. Slickdeals.net is my go-to for stuff like that.

Found one for $32.99: Link

If you only want a front camera, the easiest is probably FitcamX. It replaces the plastic hood behind the rearview mirror. For rear cameras, you’ll need to wire them up. Viofo A229 Plus or Pro are good options. I have the Plus, wired into the rearview with a FitDVR adapter. The wiring goes under the headliner, behind the side curtain in the A-pillar, down to the ground, along the floor or door panels, and back up. It’s about a 10-minute install with various YouTube tutorials.
