Thinking of getting a 2025 Camry hybrid, how do I make it last 250k miles?

Hey everyone, I just joined this forum and wanted to get some advice. I’m planning to buy a brand-new 2025 Toyota Camry hybrid soon and want to know how to keep it running for 250k miles or more.

I live in Des Moines, Iowa, where summers can get really humid and winters can be extremely cold. I don’t have a garage, just a sunshade I use for my current 2022 gas-powered Camry. I’ve heard the lithium batteries in the new hybrids can handle extreme temperatures, but is that true?

Also, I drive a lot, so any tips on maintenance or things I should watch out for to keep the car running strong would be really helpful.

Heat is worse for batteries than cold. Cold weather just lowers performance temporarily, but heat can cause long-term damage.

Try to park in the shade whenever it’s hot. Other than that, just follow Toyota’s maintenance schedule and you should be fine.

I used to have a big tree that gave me shade where I parked, but I had to take it down after a bad storm. Would using a sunshade or windshield visor help keep the car cooler?

Also, after everything you’ve said, do you think the Camry hybrid is worth buying?

@Gia
Toyota hybrids tend to last longer than their regular gas models. I think it’s a solid choice.

@Gia
Absolutely. You don’t really have extreme heat where you live, so I wouldn’t even worry about battery damage from heat.

I’ve seen people mention that their hybrid gets worse mileage in the winter.

Yeah, that’s something I need to think about. Midwest winters can get pretty rough. My gas car already struggles to start sometimes when it’s really cold.

It’ll hit 250k miles easily as long as you keep up with fluid changes on schedule.
