Thoughts on the 2025 Toyota Tundra... worth it?

So Toyota just revealed the updates for the 2025 Tundra. No more TRD Sport package, but they added a TRD Rally appearance package and made the power tailgate available on lower trims. It starts at $42k and goes up past $66k for the higher trims. Still rocking the twin-turbo V6, no V8 anymore. What do y’all think? Worth it or nah?

Wait, no more TRD Sport? That was a solid option for people who wanted a sporty look without going full off-road.

Yeah, they ditched it for 2025. Now you gotta go TRD Off-Road or this new TRD Rally package.

What’s the TRD Rally package tho? Just cosmetic stuff?

Pretty much. Just an appearance package, not a suspension upgrade like TRD Off-Road.

I still can’t get over the fact that the Tundra doesn’t have a V8 anymore. Twin-turbo V6 is cool, but it just doesn’t feel the same.

Yeah, but the new engine has 389hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. More power than the old V8 and better fuel economy (kind of).

True, but that fuel economy isn’t amazing. It’s EPA-rated at 20 city / 24 highway, but real-world tests put it around 14-19 mpg.

How does it compare to other trucks in towing? Can it handle a big trailer?

Max tow rating is 12,000 lbs. Decent, but the F-150 does 14,000 and even the Ram 1500 beats it at 12,750.

And payload? Can it haul a lot?

Not really. Max payload is 1,940 lbs, which is way behind Ford’s 3,250 lb rating.

At least the suspension is nice. Coil springs make it ride way smoother than leaf springs.

Yeah, that’s one thing it does better than some of the competition. More comfortable than an F-150 or Silverado.

Anyone know how the interior is? Toyota used to be kinda basic inside.

It’s a lot nicer than before, but still not as good as Ram or Ford. Upper trims like Capstone get nice materials tho.

The base model has some cheap plastics, but the tech is solid. The big 14-inch touchscreen is available on the SR5 and up.
