Traded in my 2020 Hybrid XSE for the 2024 Prime XSE. Loving the EV life

It’s so fast, right? These things really zip!

Yeah, the moment I did the test drive, I knew I had to make the switch.

How much more did the Prime cost out the door?

Around $10k more. Paid $41k for the Hybrid in 2020 and $51k for the Prime in 2024.

Did you qualify for the federal EV tax credit?

Not directly, because of the battery size and manufacturing requirements from the 2022 bill. But Toyota gives a $6,500 lease rebate, taking advantage of a loophole in the federal EV incentives.

Edit: Correction, the bill was signed in 2022, not 2023.

Welcome to the club! So glad you’re enjoying it.

Anyone know the name of the part on the bumper that’s gray on the Hybrid but black on the Prime? Can it be replaced separately? I prefer the black but have a Hybrid XSE.

It’s called the ‘lower molding.’ Here are the part numbers for the RAV4 Prime:

Not sure if it fits the Hybrid, so you might want to check with your local parts department.

It depends on the trim, not the engine type.

@Thanos
It’s not black on any of the Hybrid trims.

Nice car, but technically it’s not a full EV.

They didn’t say it was. They’re enjoying the EV life, and I get it. I’ve gone a month without using gas myself and am loving it!

@Wynn
I’ve driven 1,500 miles on the tank of gas the dealer gave me, and I still have a quarter left. It’s amazing.

Exactly. It’s like having an EV but without any range anxiety.

@Wynn
Even better with solar panels! I only use gas on long trips.

It has an EV mode, which is what I meant. Captain semantics strikes again!
