TRD lift kit pricing… are these dealer quotes even fair?

Hey everyone, I’m curious about the pricing for a TRD lift kit and installation. My dealer quoted $1800 for the kit itself and $2100 for the install. I asked why the install was so much because I’ve heard it should take around 5-8 hours, but they said it would be more like 12-15 hours. Does that seem right?

$2100 for install is way too much. 8 hours max should cost around $1200.

A dealership near me quoted $10k for a package that included the lift, rims, and tires. They actually wrote ‘TARD’ next to it on the invoice as a joke.

:joy::joy::joy:

Wow, that’s cheaper than my dealership. I got quoted $2600 for the install alone.

Edit: Yeah, $2600 just for installation.

Looks like the original post was quoted $3900 out the door.

Damn, your dealer quoted $2600 total?

$2600 out the door isn’t bad considering the usual prices.

Check out some local 4x4 shops for quotes. The dealer prices are just ridiculous.

Does the dealer include any kind of warranty or maintenance package? Sometimes paying a bit more can give you peace of mind.

I was thinking about that, but once the truck’s lifted, I’d probably want to regear and tune for bigger tires anyway. That’s all stuff the dealer could use to deny any warranty claims. I remember reading about someone who got denied warranty coverage for suspension problems because they had larger mud tires.

I asked my dealer if I could just get the shocks installed and skip the grille. They quoted me $1400 including installation, and it only took 4-6 hours.

I paid $2450 total for the TRD lift kit installation when I bought my truck brand new.

Did you go for an aftermarket lift or the TRD lift when you paid that $4k?

It was for the TRD lift. Just trying to see if I got ripped off or not.

Forget paying a dealer. Get some tools, watch a YouTube video, and do it yourself with a 12-pack of beer.

I got Bilstein 5100 shocks all around with an add-a-leaf (AAL) and alignment at 4 Wheel Parts for $1600. They’re not the best shop, but it was quick and affordable.

A lot of dealerships will send your truck to a lift shop to get the kit installed, and then add a markup. It can take 5-6 hours at a lift shop, so the dealer’s extra charges are just for being the middleman.

You can find the OEM TRD lift kit online for about $1500.

Where are you located? I’d go with a local 4x4 shop instead of a dealer any day.
