Trouble turning on my Prius this morning… any ideas?

My Prius was working fine yesterday, and I recently had the hybrid battery replaced by a 3rd party. But this morning, when I tried to start it, all the lights on the dash came on, but the ‘ready’ signal didn’t appear, and the car wouldn’t drive.

I kept trying for about 5 minutes, and it finally turned on. It’s been fine since the battery replacement a couple of months ago.

Any suggestions on what I should do next? Should I get the 12V battery replaced at the dealer? Thanks!

Yeah, sounds like your 12V battery needs replacing.

Thanks! So there’s pretty much no chance this is a hybrid battery issue, right?

I’ll get the 12V replaced today.

It’s unlikely to be the hybrid battery since you just had it replaced. Try jumping the 12V battery first to confirm. A new 12V should solve it!

Yeah, everything you’ve described points to the 12V being almost dead, not the hybrid battery. It’s a common symptom.

@Bao
Got it, thanks. The 12V is OEM, and the car is almost 10 years old, so replacing it should help. Appreciate the advice!
