Hey everyone… I’m planning to buy a 2025 Toyota Camry and I’ve been wondering if the extended warranty is worth it. Did anyone here get one for their Camry? How much did you pay? Would you recommend it? Thanks in advance!
You’re getting a Camry lol… why do you even need the warranty? That car’s like the definition of reliable.
I just got my 2025 Camry this weekend. I didn’t get the warranty and was second-guessing myself, but seeing all these comments saying it’s not worth it makes me feel better about my choice.
Don’t buy it when you get the car. You can always extend the factory warranty later, before it ends. Some dealers will give you a better deal if you shop around.
Definitely not worth it!
I did get the warranty… they got me for $2500. It’s 7 years or 100,000 miles. I guess it gives me some peace of mind with all the tech in newer cars these days.

That’s how they got me too! Looking back, I really wish I had said no.

The odds of you actually needing it are pretty slim. Most of the time, Toyota covers major issues anyway during the initial warranty period. It’s more about that extra time frame after that, but most people won’t even keep the car that long.

If I trade the car in, I think they reimburse the unused portion on a prorated basis.

That’s not too bad, but you’re still taking a hit when trading in. The good news is, being a Toyota, the trade-in value will be decent. I don’t mean to sound negative—I just personally wouldn’t pay for it.

No worries! Time will tell if it was worth it. I’m planning to keep this car for way longer than 7 years if I can.

If you do, it might actually pay off! Peace of mind is a big deal.
My 2021 Camry is already having issues at 55k miles. The battery needs replacing, the transmission shudders on cold mornings, and there’s a weird vibration at certain speeds. Honestly, you never know if you’ll get one of the ‘off’ cars.
I’d say go for it if you can find a good deal. I got mine online from a Toyota dealership that does volume sales and saved a lot compared to my local dealer. It’s the same factory warranty, just cheaper.
I used to hate the idea of extended warranties, but cars today are so complicated. I’m thinking about it for my next Toyota, especially to cover the hybrid system. Anyone know if it covers the hybrid battery?
Isn’t the hybrid battery already covered for 10 years?
Yeah, the hybrid battery warranty is solid. I have an older Prius with the original battery, no issues. The new lithium-ion ones should be even better.
I’ve got an 18 Camry with 31k miles and no problems, but my sister’s 19 model had a transmission fail at 126k miles. I’m definitely getting a warranty next time.
After seeing what’s covered under the hybrid system, I decided to get the extended warranty.
I bought it for 8 years of coverage with unlimited miles. These hybrids are way more complex than older Camrys, so I felt it was worth it for the long-term peace of mind.
