What is this bar for in the 2024 Tacoma?

Anyone know what this bar in the 2024 Tacoma is supposed to be for? Just curious, I’ve seen it in some other trucks too.

That’s the passenger ‘Holy Crap’ handle!

Same! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

Best answer right here.

Looks like an extra ‘Oh Crap’ handle for the passenger side.

Nope, it’s actually the secret ejector seat handle, Bond-style.

Keeps the passenger’s hands off the gear shifter.

Yup, the ‘Oh Crap’ handle.

Also known as the ‘Jesus Christ’ handle.

That’s what I’ve always called it. If you’re holding it, something’s about to happen!

Makes you look relaxed when she’s driving.

Not sure what it’s for, but it feels like it’s in the way.

One of those design choices I don’t understand. Feels like new cars try to isolate each seat so much with big consoles. Kind of claustrophobic.

Stickshifts and seatbelts

Bucket seats need to go

When we’re in the car

It feels like you’re too far

Need you close with me

Not over in a bucket seat!

Nice reference to Cake!

Had that song in my head when I sat in a new one!

Probably some safety or structural thing. All newer cars seem to have these. We went with a 4Runner because it has better elbow space without those bars.

I feel like only if you’re built weird would it be an elbow issue.
