I always recommend using a broker—they don’t charge you anything and can often find better rates.
When I checked Progressive myself, they gave me a small discount for my ‘tech package,’ but my broker found an even lower price. I pay about $950 a year, which comes out to around $80 per month. There’s also a discount if you pay the full year upfront.
Young, single male here, so my insurance is sky-high. GEICO gave me the best rate with the most coverage and a reasonable deductible. I was with Progressive before, and it was more expensive for less coverage and a $2,000 deductible.
Every insurance company has raised rates in the past few years.
Why? Cars are more expensive, parts cost more, labor costs more, and more claims are being filed—whether from accidents or natural disasters.
Two years ago, I was paying $68 a month for full coverage. Now it’s $162. No claims, no tickets, and my rate still more than doubled in less than two years.
