Why Are There So Many 3rd Gen Tundras Without a Clean Title?

Is this from the recall or just a bunch of accidents?

I would assume it’s from insurance companies totaling the vehicle. They are then sold at auction, repaired, and put back into service, resulting in no clean title.

The people who list vehicles don’t always click the checkbox. It’s not automatic.

This is the correct answer.

Insurance companies are done with collision shops and parts grifters; they just total-out the car.

A lot of websites will offer a free Carfax for the vehicles they sell. Check out some of the branded-title trucks you’re looking at and see what the Carfax says.

It’s from accidents; if recalls messed with titles, then basically every car in existence would have a mark on their title.

Everyone is saying this is standard and not just a Tundra thing. I’m not seeing the same kinds of results with any other vehicles. OP posted a massive difference in numbers. That’s not just, ‘oh well insurance totals it more often these days.’ I still need to know the answer to this. This is weird as hell.

You think a recall would make a vehicle not have a clean title?
