Any news on when the new Land Cruiser is coming out?
I wish I knew! I’ve got my own order in for one!
Nice! I’ll keep an eye out for when you get yours!

Should be around summer this year.

If you’re in the US, maybe! We might only get 3-4 per dealer here in Canada.

Can you explain what being a Product Advisor really means? How is it different from a regular car salesman, and do you work on commission or salary?

I got into it through a friend at the dealership. I’ve been in car sales for a few years, so they knew I wouldn’t have a hard time. It’s still a sales job, but I focus more on being knowledgeable about the cars themselves. I’m 100% commission, but it’s honestly one of the easiest car sales jobs I’ve had.
Most Toyota buyers already love the brand, and they just want to know more about the car before making a decision. It’s a great gig if you enjoy talking about cars.

Sounds like a dream job for a car nerd like me! I’m always sharing random facts about cars with my coworkers. Thanks for the info!

Is it normal for dealers to ask for a non-refundable deposit ($500) just to get on the waitlist? It’s not the money, but more that I’m locked into that dealer without a written price.

Yes, that’s normal. Dealers need some kind of commitment from buyers. Without a deposit, people tend to flake. You should have been given pricing before leaving a deposit, though, unless it’s a car that hasn’t been priced yet, like the new Land Cruiser. Just keep in mind that if you get bumped to the next model year, the MSRP could change.

How far along should we go in the negotiation process? I’m looking at Grand Highlander Hybrids, but the dealer is still waiting on allocations. Should I ask for a refund option if there’s no delivery after six months?
@Gracen
You don’t have much leverage with Grand Highlander Hybrids. MSRP is your best bet. You can ask for a refund clause, but that’s up to the dealer. In my dealership, we offer refunds after 12 months if there’s no delivery.
@Gracen
Thanks! I just want to avoid extra fees or markups at the last minute.
