Why is my car insurance so high?

Your accident, speeding ticket, and the fact that your car is an EV are likely driving up your rates. EVs are expensive to repair and can be easily totaled in accidents.

Try Auto-Owners Insurance. They had great rates for me when my kids were teenagers.

I’ll check them out. Thanks!

Their rates aren’t what they used to be. With two young drivers, I’m paying over $6,500 a year.

With one at-fault accident and a speeding ticket, underwriters may classify you as high risk.

Accidents usually fall off after five years, so your speeding ticket might be the bigger factor.

Have you tried all the major providers like State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, AAA, Nationwide, Auto-Owners, and GEICO? Your credit score might also affect your rates.

Using an out-of-state address to avoid Michigan premiums isn’t a good idea. Insurance companies can tell if you’re not actually living there. Filing a claim will expose it immediately.

To register a car in another state, you need to prove residency, like a lease or utility bills in your name. A P.O. box won’t work.
