Looking to purchase a Tundra in the coming months and wanted to hear all you Tundra owners’ feedback as to which one I should get? I used to be a Toyota/Honda only guy, but when I bought my first truck 3 years ago, I went with Ram due to price tag and features over the Tundra. My Ram is now getting lemon lawed, and I’m looking to come back to a reliable truck! Any and all feedback is appreciated!
I’ve had a 2010, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2023, and now a 2024. All from 2014 on have been 1794 trims. If I wanted one that I knew I could drive forever, it would be the 2016—less tech to break but with all the reliability and safety features. For fun to drive, the 2024 Limited Edition has tons of power, smooth shifts, and a great ride. The tech is all there with a big screen and cameras everywhere. So it’s not an easy decision; you need to assess your own priorities to determine what’s best for you.

So I see a pattern. Every 2-4 years you replace for newer. Why did you ditch your 2023?

If I had known the Limited Edition was coming, I would have waited for that. Unfortunately, they announced it a month after I bought the 2023.
I’ve put 40,000 miles on my 2020 that I bought a year ago, and now I’m pulling a 34’ camper with it, and it’s still going strong!
Which one do you like better?
I had the same debate before I landed on a 2015.

And how has the 15 treated you so far? Feedback on that year?

2.5 gen obviously lol but it’s been fantastic. No issues yet, though I haven’t had it incredibly long. It’s got 100k miles but in my opinion, it’s barely broken in. It has some modern features but not too many things to break. It has a transmission cooler, which is a nice bonus for towing. I have mine lifted with steel bumpers and big tires. Overall, it’s an absolute beast; I expect it to last over 500k miles.
I had a paid-off Tacoma worth over 30k. I also have decent savings and could have easily got a 3rd gen. I went with a 2020 1794, and I am so happy with it!

How many miles did you get it with?

$37k last month. It has nice features like Kings, TRD exhaust, amp power steps, and more. I think I got lucky on it; it was traded in to a Chevy dealer and I saw it the same morning it went up. Thought it was a great deal compared to my local market, so I flew out to get it and drove back 6 hours all in one day.
@WilliamMia
Damn, nice. What website did you use? And how far were your parameters set to?

Autotrader. 500 miles. Sometimes I did nationwide, but then realized my work schedule would make pickup difficult.
If reliability is your thing, look for a diligently serviced or low-mile 2.5 gen. Watch out for rust/undercoating if you’re in the rust belt; otherwise, these trucks can drive 500,000+ miles on fluid changes, brakes, belts/pulleys, and the occasional suspension bushing.
I got a 2021. For me, even if there weren’t any problems with the 3rd gen motors, I believe that all new cars and trucks are built to last only through the factory warranty period. All the electronics nowadays, the LCD screens, computers, etc. are so expensive to replace outside of warranty. That new modern tech doesn’t last. If you plan to be in a new vehicle every 3-5 years, get a new Tundra. If you want to pay it off and keep it for a long time, go for the 2.5 gen. Just my opinion.

This and congrats on getting the last year model of the best truck ever built. LAST BULLETPROOF V8, no need to say anything else.
