2005 Land Cruiser Sahara V8 just bought today

Hi all, I just picked up a Land Cruiser Sahara today for 20k AUD. It’s done 377k and had a service 2k ago. The timing belt is due at 480k. I figure a transmission service is a good idea since I’ll be using it as a van tow rig for the next 6 months, as well as a wheel alignment. Honestly, it’s a great vehicle to drive. Since it’s unmodified, I’ve averaged 12- 13L/100 so far. Any other things to check while it’s fresh?

Hell yeah!

Congratulations :tada:

I’d baseline it with fluids and make sure the front wheel bearings and driveshafts have been kept up with. Drive it another 400k’s!

Sounds like a solid buy! Just keep an eye on the rear diff and transfer case fluids too. How are the brakes?

Make sure you inspect the suspension components. Older LCs can have worn bushings or shocks.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying driving it! Just make sure to keep up with regular oil changes and fluid checks.

Awesome! If it hasn’t been done yet, you might consider changing the power steering fluid too if it looks dark.

Since you’re using it for towing, a trans cooler might also be a good investment down the line to keep temps in check.

Have fun and make great memories! Just don’t forget to check the tire tread regularly, especially when towing.

Welcome to the LC family! Regularly check the air filter and cabin filter too. It’ll help keep the interior fresh.

Great find! Also, don’t ignore windshield wipers. They get beat up after years of use.

Check the alignment of the headlights; they can get out of whack if the truck has seen rugged use.

Consider joining a local Land Cruiser club. They often have meet-ups and great advice!

Not to throw a wrench in your plans, but consider planning for any rust repairs too, just in case.

How’s the exterior? Any signs of rust or damage?

One last advice: get familiar with the infotainment system if it has one. Make sure it works well.
