Hey all, I’ve had my 2007 Hybrid Limited since 2017 and it’s been a great family car. Recently though, I’ve had to drop some serious cash on repairs—like $3,000 last year at 120k miles. Now it’s at 130k, and the shop is saying I need more repairs that could run me close to $2,800. I checked out the trade-in value, and it’s around $2,700. I’m torn between keeping it since it’s still running well or trading it in. Thoughts?
What was that $3k for at 120k miles? I did similar repairs myself and only spent around $700.

It was a bunch of things—oil change, filters, tire rotation, alignment, brakes, timing belt, water pump… the list went on.

Wow, that’s a lot! How’s your hybrid battery holding up though? What charge percentage does it show?
@Nate
Battery seems good! The display usually shows it almost full, but it dips low in stop-and-go traffic. I’m getting about 25 mpg in warm weather.
I didn’t think the 2007 had a timing belt. Are you sure about that?

Actually, all 2006-2010 Highlander Hybrids had timing belts. The newer models switched to timing chains.

Ah, thanks! I’m just frustrated with shops recommending unnecessary repairs… My Prius C still has its original shocks at 200k miles.
KBB values are always off. You’re better off using other sites to check your car’s value.

Thanks! Any suggestions on where I should look for more accurate values?
