2008 Highlander Strut Replacement Brand... Which One to Go For?

I have a 2008 Highlander Base AWD that needs new struts. My main shop said Toyota doesn’t offer a replacement strut assembly, so I’d need individual parts, which will cost around $2800 for all four (unless the springs need replacing too). I’ve seen a lot of YouTube videos and feel confident I can do the work myself, but the shop isn’t sure about anything but OEM parts. I’m looking for advice on what brands to go with. I’d prefer not to spend $200 each, but AutoZone offers a lifetime warranty if theirs fail. I’m considering these brands: Napa Proformer, KYB, TRQ, AutoZone Duralast. Any suggestions on which one has quality comparable to OEM?

I have non-OEM quick struts on my Pilot. Not sure about the brand, but they were a couple hundred each. They work fine, a bit firmer of a ride. I’ll go the same route for my Highlander when it needs them.

KYB is the OEM brand for Nissan, so they might be a good option.

I just had this work done on my car. Bought a pair for $149 on eBay, and they drive great. Honestly, you might be overthinking it, especially with your vehicle being old. My Highlander had 220k miles, so I didn’t want to spend too much. I’d recommend buying the ones that come with the springs already attached. It’s a pain to deal with the old, rusty springs.

For cheaper struts, I always go with Monroe. They’re reliable, and I haven’t had any problems with them. You can usually find good deals on RockAuto too. I’ve seen Monroe quick struts for around $120 each on there.

I own a 2008 Camry, and my research showed KYB was the OEM supplier for Toyota in 2008. So, I highly recommend going with the KYB brand. I’ve replaced my suspension with KYB parts, and they’ve worked great.

I actually have some I can give you!

They’re for the rear wheels. I bought them from Toyota Parts Deal but ended up not needing them. I couldn’t return them, so I’ve got extras if you’re interested.
