2009 Toyota Corolla seat belt alarm malfunction

Hello guys,

Today, my 2009 Corolla started having an issue where the seat belt alarm goes off constantly, even when there’s nothing on the seats and I’m buckled in. The seatbelt indicator lights on the dash show that I have my seatbelt on because when I buckle in, the light stops flashing. However, despite registering that I’m buckled in, the alarm continues to sound indefinitely.

Previously, it would stop after about a minute if something was in the passenger seat, but now it doesn’t turn off at all once I accelerate, even with nothing in the passenger seat and I buckled in.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I checked the fuses under the driver-side dash, and they all seem fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey,fans,
If the issue is intermittent, you can temporarily silence the alarm by turning off the ignition and restarting the car. However, this is not a permanent fix.

Seemingly the positioning of the sensors is wrong, or maybe your seat belt buckle isn’t making proper contact. You need to check the wiring by yourself or take it to the manufacturer’s technician to get it checked and fixed.
