I have been searching for a car for the past two months and it’s been tough without one. A 2014 Camry SE with 105,000 miles was just listed in my area. The owner has service records and is asking for $10,500. Does this price sound fair, and do you think it’s a good deal considering the mileage? Thanks.
With only routine maintenance, Toyota’s 2GR-FE engines may readily go up to 300,000 kilometres. Given the state of the market, a 7th generation Camry with that engine and mileage is a terrific offer for $12,000, so I’d advise you to look into the maintenance history for the last three years or the last 40,000 miles to make sure the maintenance appears consistent and promising. Before purchasing it, attempt to take it for a ten to fifteen minute test drive. You actually have nothing to be concerned about if those two items turn out to be normal. Perhaps try settling on $10,500 and meeting at the halfway point ($11,000). You’ll be happy with it, in my opinion, as it offers good value for the money.
Is there a 5k mile oil change frequency listed in service records?
Do service records for gearbox service also reveal anything?
Although 12k isn’t ideal, I wouldn’t be too concerned if the car has only had one owner and has acceptable service records. Make an effort to negotiate a cheaper price for the car if the hoses or tires are worn out.
It sounds like you had a 2012 silver car that developed an oil burning issue around 80,000 miles. It’s good to hear that you adjusted your oil change intervals from 10,000 miles to 5,000 miles to address the issue. Despite this challenge, your car has managed to reach almost 150,000 miles, and your niece is now driving it. It goes to show that with proper maintenance and care, a vehicle can still serve well even after encountering issues like oil burning. Taking care of your car indeed pays off in the long run!
