2015 Toyota Avalon XLE Touring for $19k… What do you think?

What’s a fair price for a 2015 Toyota Avalon XLE Touring with 47k miles? Is it worth the asking price? Are there any reliability issues besides the engine like with the AC?

It’s hard to say without checking it out, but I think it might be around 10% overpriced. Closer to 17k seems fair. If it has maintenance records, was kept in a garage, and is in great condition, then 19k could be reasonable.

My 2016 model has more miles and is worth less, but it’s still my favorite car.

I helped a friend buy the same car recently. The total cost with taxes and everything was $20,400, and it had 36k miles.

I recently got a 2015 Avalon too, but mine had 120,706 miles. I paid $13,200, including fees and taxes. Do you think that’s a good deal? It seems like the used market is getting softer.

Only time will tell if it was a smart buy. You chose an Avalon, so your chances of it being a good deal have really improved.

I think you made a good choice!

You shouldn’t pay that price. It’s overpriced. I bought the same car in December 2023 with 52,900 miles. I got it from a dealer, which I usually dislike. It had new tires and a new battery, and I paid $15,900 for it. Realistically, its value should be around $12k to $14k. They likely won’t accept that, but try not to pay more than $15k. Is it from a dealership? They probably gave the previous owner only $10k for it. I will try to share my invoice and photos of my car. It’s a great car, but negotiate the price down from $20k. I managed to get them down from $17,900 to $15,900. They are making a huge profit at the asking price. Good luck with it!

@AlexJordan1
Thanks for the advice!

I’m having trouble figuring out how to upload photos to my post.

Two years ago, I paid $26k for a 2018 hybrid XLE plus with 60k miles. It was a bit pricey during the pandemic, but still within reasonable ranges. I love the car, but I wish it had Apple CarPlay and AWD. I’m planning to keep it until it wears out.

@Max
The only thing I dislike is the lack of AWD.

I had some thoughts on the pricing and market trends.
