Just bought a '17 Corolla, and the multimedia system doesn’t have Entune or navigation. Looking for a way to upgrade/flash a system onto it (Toyota software or Android, since I don’t have Apple) to bring it out of the dark ages. Any suggestions?
My 2014 Corolla is stuck in the dark ages too. I just use a phone mount and call it a day.

Yeah, I’ve been using a phone mount too, but I’d prefer an actual head unit upgrade.
Check if your head unit supports a firmware update. Some '17 models can be updated to add Entune, but it depends on your system version.

How do I check that? Through the settings?
@Kasey
Yeah, go to ‘Setup’ > ‘Software Update’ on your system. If you have an update option, Toyota might still have an official one available.

Got it, I’ll check that out. Thanks!
Honestly, you’re better off replacing the head unit with an aftermarket Android Auto one. Plenty of plug-and-play options for the 11th gen Corolla.

Check out the ATOTO A6 Pro or Sony XAV-AX5500. Both have solid Android Auto support and won’t break the bank.
@Grey
Looks good, I’ll look into those. Thanks for the info!
If you want to keep it OEM, you could try sourcing a higher-trim Toyota head unit from a junkyard or eBay and swapping it in.

That’s a solid idea, but would it need extra wiring?
@Kasey
Depends on the trim level. If you get one from a similar model year with Entune, it should be mostly plug-and-play, but navigation models might need extra wiring.

Good to know! I’ll research which models are compatible.
