2022 Tundra key fob battery dies too quickly

Picked up my 2022 Tundra back in February and ever since, both of my key fobs have been chewing through batteries in about 3 weeks. I’ve rotated using each one, tried different battery brands, and nothing seems to make a difference. Anyone else run into this?

That’s way faster than normal. I’ve had my ‘23 almost two years and I’ve only swapped the batteries twice.

These newer smart fobs definitely drain faster. I replaced mine during my 15k mile service and had to do it again at 20k.

My first fob lasted two years without a battery change—then I lost it. The spare barely made it two weeks before dying. Go figure.

Still rocking the original battery on my ‘23. No issues so far.

Where do you keep your keys when the truck’s parked? I had mine near the kitchen, which was too close to the truck. They kept trying to ‘talk’ to each other, draining the battery. Started keeping them in the bedroom and that helped a lot.

Mine tend to last about 6 months, but I also feel like the range is terrible on the Tundra fob. My wife’s 2025 Suburban key fob has way better range and remote start.

Try storing them in a metal tin at night—it blocks the signal. You can also manually put your fobs to sleep when not using them. Both help the battery last way longer.
