2025 Camry vs. 2024 Prius/Prius Prime… Which would you pick?

I was all set on getting a 2024 hybrid Prius, but then the 2025 Camry was announced, and I ended up choosing it for the extra space. Just curious, what do you guys think about these two? Any thoughts on how they compare?

I’d go with the Camry. Having that extra space is definitely more practical in the long run.

Yeah, I feel like the Camry is just a better deal overall. The LE trims are priced about the same, but the Prius Prime is way more expensive. Maybe in 10 years, when battery tech is better, I’ll go for a plug-in Camry. :joy:

@Ozzie
The Prius is in a weird spot now because so many other Toyotas are hybrids too. It’s really all about getting the best mpg, and it’s smaller, so it’s great for city driving. But yeah, the Camry LE is probably the smarter choice for most people since it’s got better mileage than other Camry trims and much more space than the Prius.

These are my top two options right now, too. I love the mpg, the look, and the cargo space of the Prius, but I also like the gauge cluster, paint options, and roominess of the Camry. Plus, the Camry blends in more, while the Prius gets a lot of attention—both good and bad.

@Mack
The Camry definitely has a nicer gauge cluster. It’s weird that the lower trims don’t come with front and back proximity sensors, though.

I know, right? I wish proximity sensors were standard on the Camry.

@Mack
The Camry just feels way roomier inside, which was a big factor for me. Plus, I like how the gauge and infotainment screens are positioned. In the Prius, the steering wheel kind of blocks the screen, and I’m not a fan of those pop-up infotainment displays like the one in the Prius.

Interesting. I have a 2020 XSE, and I was actually a bit disappointed with the road noise. My 2010 was much quieter.

Is it a hybrid or a regular gas engine?

It’s just the XSE with a 4-cylinder engine.

If you have the panoramic roof, that might be the cause of the extra road noise. I noticed it, too.

I’d go with the Camry for the extra space and a better-looking interior. I don’t really care about having a hatchback.

Honestly, my Camry is super quiet, and that’s one of the things I love about it.

If it’s your only car, go with the Camry—it’s got more space and is a better overall value. The Prius is a good second car for a family, though. It’s got a smoother ride and better build quality, but the space isn’t great.

@Onyx
That’s interesting. I’ve heard more people say the Camry has the smoother ride and feels more refined.
