Toyota is swapping out their ‘Barcelona Red Metallic’ for Mazda’s ‘Soul Red Crystal’ on the 2025 Corolla Cross. The two automakers share a plant in Alabama, where this car and the Mazda CX-50 are made. Maybe that’s also why Mazda is using Toyota’s hybrid tech in the CX-50 Hybrid?
I noticed this too. Toyota has a chunk of Mazda and even runs Mazda Financial Services. Plus, they both share that Alabama factory. Honestly, Mazda’s red is stunning. Wonder how it’ll look on a Corolla Cross?

I don’t usually like red cars, but Mazda’s red is something else. I’m really curious to see it on a Toyota.

Same here. When my wife got her CX-5, I had to convince her to go with the red. Four years later, we both still love it. Great color choice.

Mazda’s red looks perfect on their cars, but I don’t think it’ll suit Toyota’s designs.
Mazda gets the hybrid tech, Toyota gets the red paint.

Toyota wins this round, no contest!

Don’t forget Toyota took some of Mazda’s SkyActiv engine tech too. They’re both benefitting here.
Didn’t Mazda also grab Toyota’s cypress green paint?
Mazda’s red is amazing, but my favorite red will always be Alfa Romeo’s premium option. Still, this one’s a close second!
I got a 2022 Corolla Cross in Barcelona Red, but every time I see a Mazda in their red, I wish mine had that color. It’s going to look amazing on the new models!
Corolla Cross isn’t great quality to begin with, and I think the paint is part of the problem.
Honestly, Soul Red makes any car look good.
So… are we calling it the Alfa Romeo Junior now?
They really ditched this color to make the change. I don’t get why they got rid of Acidic Blast, it was the star of all the ads when this car first launched. Now it’s completely gone. I’m just glad we managed to snag one in that color. Way cooler than any red, if you ask me.
Why is everyone ignoring that gorgeous reddish color Infiniti has? Oh wait… probably because no one’s buying Infiniti.
Mazda paint might look great, but their quality isn’t.
Toyota already has ‘Emotional Red,’ which is kinda close to Mazda’s shade. Isn’t that good enough?
Mazda paints always stand out. They’re just incredible.

Amazing colors, yes. But the paint’s durability? Not so much. Mazda is known for having super thin paint layers.
