2025 Land Cruiser questions... what are your thoughts?

We’ll be purchasing a new vehicle at some point in the future, probably fall 2025. Right now, we’re looking at the Land Cruiser for its towing capacity and Toyota reliability. We plan to do some light off-roading while using it as a tow vehicle for a smallish Airstream. I’m curious about the towing ability, max size Airstream we could tow, and if there will be changes with the 2025 models. Any advice or things I should consider before buying?

It depends on what you want out of the vehicle. The new 2024 has better tech and a more efficient powertrain. The 200 you have is a reliable V8 but less efficient. Just remember that first-year models can have issues.

As others have said, this is a downgrade. The 1958 is not as desirable as the 300, and the 2024 is basically a Prado, which is capable but not as luxurious.

How much does a 22’ Airstream weigh? If it’s 5000 lb or less GVW, you might be okay. The LC has a tow rating of 6000 lb, but you might hit max payload before reaching that with a trailer.

22ft Caravel is 5000lbs GVWR. Not sure about the Lexus, but the higher towing capacity is appealing.

Trade it in. The new tech will depreciate faster. You’ll get better value selling now before the market corrects.

They did take a break from offering the 200 series in North America because they didn’t sell well. But they still made them for the rest of the world.

The 200 series got replaced by the 250 series, which is the successor of the 150-series. So, they never stopped making them.

For towing, consider the Toyota Sequoia. It might be a better fit for your needs.

Are these still completely made in Japan? I’m concerned about the quality issues Toyota has been having.

Website has some minor color tweaks for the new models. Nothing major has been announced yet.
