2025 LC Ride Quality

Hi fam, we’re considering buying an LC but did a test drive yesterday on one and felt the ride quality wasn’t very good - we could feel every bump on the road. Is this expected, or did we test a bad one? For reference, I have a Bronco Sport Badlands with off-road tires, and this doesn’t feel the same as far as the bumps on the road. The one we test drove had trail tires and had the downhill assist light continuously blinking, which the sales rep couldn’t explain, but it was the only one they had available to test drive.

Bronco Sport is a car-based crossover. I imagine a Land Cruiser rides a lot like a normal new Bronco. My mom ditched her nice GX460 for a Highlander for the same reason.

Most LCs are shipped with 50+ psi in the tires from the factory, and some dealers leave it up to the customer to make adjustments.

This. Draw it down to 35.

Not saying this is 100% the answer, but Toyota is known to not set tire pressures properly during PDI. Wouldn’t surprise me if their test vehicles were also set super high from shipping.

Why is that?

I didn’t know how much pressure when shipping, but when I picked it up from the dealership, the four tires were around 38-39 psi. Driving it home, it was smooth without feeling bumps.

Mine had the tires at 55 psi when I picked it up. Took it down to 33 and it was a world of difference.

People don’t think short wheelbase body-on-frame 4WDs feel like they do, but they do.

Land Cruiser is based on a truck platform and does ride a bit bumpy. If I’m not mistaken, the Bronco Sport is a unibody construction and rides more like a car. So, there will be a difference between the two.

Maybe the Toyota Highlander or RAV4 is more comparable to a Bronco Sport.

URJ200 or buy a 200 series.

Did it have 20-inch tires? Those ride harder than the 18s.

It had 18s, but they put trail tires on instead of the Yokohama stock ones. Not sure how much that contributed to the ride quality though.

The stock tires are all-season highway tires made for a smooth ride and good mpg.

Mine is pretty rough riding, but our roads are also in bad shape. I keep hearing and reading about how well these ride, and I’m not sure if it’s people justifying their purchase or if I got a bad one. My previous vehicles were a Jeep Gladiator and a 4Runner, so it’s not like I came from a Cadillac.

Go drive a Wrangler and then reassess the ride quality.

Tire pressure is key. I lowered mine down to 37 and saw a big improvement.

37 PSI even on 20s?

Wondering the same as the poster above. I keep forgetting to let air out of mine (48 psi). Wondering what I should decrease them to on 20s?
