2025 RAV4 Hybrid XLE Fuel Economy Seems Low?

My RAV4 Hybrid is only two months old, and I feel like the fuel economy is lower than expected. I’m getting 9.4 L/100 km, which seems a bit high. I know Winnipeg winters are rough, but some friends with the 2024 model are seeing around 8 L/100 km.

Could something be wrong with the car, or does it need some kind of tune-up?

Winter really kills fuel economy for all cars. The gas blend changes, and the engine burns more fuel to stay warm.

Are you mostly driving in the city or on the highway?

Thanks, so far it’s been all city driving.

@Amar
That explains it. Hybrids do well in the city under normal conditions, but in winter, the engine has to stay on more often to keep warm. That means the gas engine is running more than usual, which hurts efficiency.
