Looks like the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid has been announced, and as expected, no big changes. Here’s the link if you want to check it out: https://pressroom.toyota.com/new-name-same-great-powertrain-for-the-2025-toyota-rav4-plug-in-hybrid/. Anyone else kinda disappointed? I was hoping for something fresh!
Same here, I liked the ‘Prime’ name, but I guess it wasn’t super clear for everyone what it meant. Also, do you think they’ll change the body style soon? Feels like they’re due for a new look, but maybe not until 2026.
@Mary1
Probably trying to simplify things across all markets. Easier to market globally when everything has the same name.
@Mary1
Yeah, it does kinda feel like losing that ‘Prime’ name takes away the cool factor a bit.
Let’s hope they make more than 10 units this time… it’s been impossible to get one!

Right? And only like 2 for the Canadian market.

Haha, no worries, they’ll make 11 this time.
Did they announce anything about the regular 2025 RAV4 or is this just about the PHEV?
No Toyota Safety Sense 3.0? Yeah, I’m gonna skip this one for sure.
So basically it’s the same as last year but with a name change… guess we gotta wait until 2026 for something new?
Why no updates for the RAV4?

Well, it’s still the best-selling SUV, so maybe they’re just sticking with what works!
Here’s the pricing info for all 2024-2025 Toyota models: https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-full-line-pricing/
I really wish the Plug-In Hybrid was available in the XLE Premium trim or something lower. It’s a bit too fancy for my needs.

Totally agree with you on that.
It’s basically the same as our European version.
Wait, so is it just a name change, or are there actual changes to the specs too? Didn’t read the whole thing yet.

Nah, it’s mostly just the badge that’s different. I wish they would’ve given us a new color or something fun at least.
@Ashwin
Exactly, it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any price difference between the 2024 and 2025 models. Like, if the 2025 costs the same as the 2024, I’ll take the newer one because it’ll seem like it’s been used less when I resell it in 10 years. But if it’s a couple thousand more, I might just stick with the 2024.
