Much like the Tacoma, this thing is way more expensive than the old model, except for the base trim, which they’ll likely produce in limited numbers. Other trims are significantly more expensive.
Over $55K? Might as well get the Land Cruiser.
@Hal
I wanted a Land Cruiser until I saw the price. Toyota has lost their mind.

Agreed, the interior looks like a $20K car, but you pay $55K for it.

Well, at least the interior exists. That’s better than a nonexistent $20K car.
So, $96K CAD if I want to replace my TRD Pro with a new one. That’s firmly in Yukon AT4 price range. No thanks.

Toyota SUV and truck prices have gone insane, especially for Canadians. I don’t know how Toyota fans keep up with these prices.
@Bay
I love Toyota 4x4s, but these prices are making me reconsider.
Who’s paying $68K for a 4Runner? It’s a great truck, but not $68K great.

You can get a Lexus GX 550 Overtrail for just $1K more. No brainer.
The dealer markup on the upper trims will be ridiculous.

Honestly, I think the base SR5 trim will get the markups since it’s the only one without a major price hike, and they won’t produce many of them.
Time for Nissan to bring back the Xterra.

If Mitsubishi wanted to make money, they could bring back the Montero as a value competitor. If they did it right, it’d sell like crazy.
It feels like the whole factory off-road thing is about to jump the shark, especially with these prices.

It already has. Bronco sales are down. Wrangler sales are down. Half-ton trucks are getting big discounts. Even Toyota’s TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims aren’t selling as fast as they used to. People might finally be overpaying for the off-road image.
Nissan needs to stop messing around and bring back an Xterra based on the Frontier with a V6, priced below this madness.
God, that’s expensive. The green TRD Pro looks amazing, though.
Does it share a transmission with the Tacoma?

Yes, everything is shared with the Tacoma.
This thing looks amazing. Toyota nailed the design. But I’m worried about the engine and transmission, and the second row not folding flat is a huge miss for outdoor use. Lack of second-row amenities is disappointing, too, considering this is essentially a family vehicle.
