2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser EV first pics and details, what do you think?

Main points:

  • FWD or AWD options.
  • 49 or 61 kWh battery, no official range but likely around 400km.
  • 144 to 184 HP.
  • Sliding rear seats for either more legroom or cargo space.
  • 10.25-inch screen with CarPlay, physical buttons for AC.
  • Optional JBL sound system and fixed sunroof.
  • 4.28 meters long, 1.8 meters wide.
  • 5.2-meter turning radius.

Toyota says they’ll have 15 zero-emission cars by 2026, with 6 being EVs.

Seems like another practical family car, but the power is low for an EV. If the price is right and charging is decent, it could sell well. Otherwise, it might go the way of the BZ4X. Looks like it’s heavily based on the Suzuki Vitara.

Most drivers just want a car that does the job. This forum isn’t always the best indicator of the average car buyer.

@Tully
They don’t say it directly, but this looks like a rebadge of the Suzuki e-Vitara, which was shown last month.

Pretty sure this was one of the six cars Toyota said they were developing with partners back in 2019.

@Emory
Toyota calls it ‘co-development’ but let’s be real, they’re just rebranding a Suzuki, same way the GR86 and Supra were done.

People keep explaining this, but you just ignore the facts. Downvotes don’t lie.

@EmilyWilson
You really think this isn’t just a Suzuki with Toyota badges?

You’re saying there’s zero Toyota parts in the GR86?

@TomToyotaFan
Barely any, maybe just the logos.

Toyota’s usual strategy, just rebadge someone else’s car instead of making their own.

@Baylor
Toyota has done this a few times… with the BZ4X, the BRZ, the Supra… wait a second…

@Baylor
Finally, someone speaking the truth!

Canada gets cars that the US doesn’t. Remember the Nissan Micra? Or even older Soviet Ladas?

So it’s just another compact SUV. Probably going to sell well.

Most people buying this just want something reliable to get around.

Oh yeah, because everyone needs a supercharged RWD performance car, right?

5.2m turning radius seems ridiculously small. My last car had 10m and that was already impressive.

It’s a 10.4m turning ‘radius’ if you go by how it’s normally measured. Some places use diameter instead of radius.
