Hi. I recently purchased a new tundra but the miles i get per tank are insane. I only get 286 miles on 15 gallons. Which my truck is a 22.5 tank. Im missing between 6 to 8 gallons more which i research and supposedly its the reserved fuel but isn’t that a bit to much for reserved fuel. I still haven’t let it gone to empty and see how many miles i get once the low fuel light cones on. Does anyone have any inputs on this topic?
Yeah, that’s pretty normal for the newer Tundras. The truck’s tank is around 22.5 gallons, but the low fuel light usually comes on when there’s about 6-7 gallons left, which makes it feel like you’re missing fuel.
Toyota designed it that way to protect the fuel pump and give you extra range if you’re far from a gas station. If you run it down to almost empty, you’ll probably get closer to 400 miles per tank. Just keep in mind that the fuel gauge drops faster in the second half of the tank, which throws a lot of people off.
