Somebody tell Subaru they already make a Forester and Ascent.
Keep your monopoly on the affordable wagon-ish format instead of making yet another mid-size SUV.
This is gonna end up like the Mazda CX-5 vs CX-50 battle with the Forester.
@Mason
I wish they’d drop the ‘-ish’ and go back to full-on wagon. 1st-3rd gen Outbacks were amazing.

This. Also, an STI model would be nice, but that’s never happening now.

Levorg exists… just not in the U.S.

Great. Another car I want that’s never coming to Canada.

They already do. The modern Impreza is basically a wagon.
Great, another underpowered SUV with a CVT. Just what we needed.

The market wants crossovers. And 8+ inches of ground clearance.

Subaru just handing sales over to the Toyota Crown Signia at this point.

Which is also barely a wagon. Volvo, please hurry up with a new V90 Cross already.
Subaru has one of the ugliest portfolios in the auto industry. This doesn’t seem to change that trend.
Great, more of the stupid split headlights.

I’d say they’re actually a good thing. Lower headlights mean less glare for other drivers.
This should be just the updated Ascent. Look at it next to the CR-V behind it. Please, Subaru, don’t turn the Outback into another SUV.

The Outback is 191” long, while the Forester is 182” and the CR-V is 185”. The cargo space is way better, too—so unless they shrink it, it’s still an Outback in my book.
Remember when people swore the Outback was still a wagon? Good times.

The Outback has always just been a lifted Legacy wagon, but since the Legacy is dead, I wonder if this means a whole new platform?
This looks like a Ford Freestyle that got punched in the face.
They took the Outback, stretched it vertically, and made it look more like a generic SUV. Practically speaking, it’ll have more space, but visually, it’s just another crossover now.
Don’t worry—Subaru will make it ‘unique’ with excessive plastic cladding. /s
