I have a 2024 Toyota Corolla, and my AAA car insurance is about to renew at $249 a month. I can’t afford to keep paying this much if there’s a better deal out there. What insurance company did you go with? Did you call or email them for your quote? How did you negotiate for the best rate? Trying to see what options are available.
That seems pretty standard right now. My quote was $215 to $245 for a $1,000/$500 deductible with State Farm.
I have a 2022 Corolla and pay $640 a month. I can’t find anything cheaper.

Wait, what? That’s crazy.

Yeah, that’s just my insurance alone with State Farm.
I’m in NYC with Geico. My Corolla costs $1,388 for six months, which is about $231 a month. I have a multi-car discount. My whole policy is $3,509 every six months ($585 a month) for three cars. Other companies like Allstate and Progressive quoted me way higher, close to $8,000 for six months, which makes no sense. No accidents, clean record.
Coverage details:
- Bodily injury liability: $300k/$300k
- Property damage liability: $100k
- Personal injury protection: $100k
- Residual medical payments: $10k
- Uninsured motorist: $100k/$300k
- Comprehensive: $500 deductible/full glass
- Collision: $500 deductible
- Roadside service
- Mechanical breakdown insurance with a $250 deductible
Geico. $960 a year ($80 a month). I just got a quote online.

Online quotes don’t mean much unless you finalize the policy. What kind of coverage and deductible do you have?
I use Connect Insurance through Costco. I was already with them, so when I got my new Corolla SE, I just updated my policy online. I also changed my deductibles to $100/$250, which made my rate go up slightly. My renewal is coming up, so I’ll see if it changes. I drive about 10,000 miles a year, and I get a Costco member discount.
Switched to Progressive from Geico, which wanted $200 a month. I have no tickets or accidents and need full coverage since I’m financing. I managed to get a six-month policy for $400, which feels like a miracle compared to others. Also have zero-deductible glass coverage.
@Dezi
Did you do this online or talk to a representative? I feel like websites don’t always give the best deals.

I did everything online.
If Farm Bureau is available in your state, give them a call. Where I live, they’re way cheaper than others. I have full coverage with a $250 collision deductible and zero deductible for comprehensive. My monthly payment is $89.
Geico. 2023 Hybrid LE in New York, $151 a month. Try bundling if you can. Defensive driving courses can lower rates. Some companies also offer discounts for monitored driving, but I’d only do that as a last resort. Talking to an agent helps because they might adjust things that an online quote won’t let you change.
23 Corolla, $120 a month with Progressive.

Does that include comprehensive? What’s your deductible?
Got a letter from Safeco saying their rating changed for 2024 Corollas. My rate jumped over 50%. No accidents, married, 40s, no claims except a windshield replacement. They said it’s due to repair costs and theft risk, but a 50% increase is wild. Checked with other companies, and none were cheaper.
I use Progressive/Drive Insurance. My broker shops around for me. My renewal is $309 for six months, then $186.55 a month after that.

That’s about what I’ll be paying with Geico.
38-year-old male, no at-fault accidents in 20+ years, a few windshield claims (Arizona roads are bad for that). Full coverage, $1,000 deductible, $145 a month.
